Hi everyone,

I’ve held three banking roles that started as a Banking Associate and eventually became an Analyst. My work focused entirely on credit analysis and assessing loan applications. I had very minimal client interaction, and there was no sales component in any of my roles.

I’m struggling to choose the correct NOC for my PR application:
  • Financial and Investment Analyst (NOC 11101): Duties fit in a lot of ways, but this NOC seems mostly focused on securities and investment portfolios, which isn’t my context.
  • Financial Sales Representative (NOC 63102): Some job titles overlap (credit analyst, mortgage underwriter), but this NOC includes sales-related duties like opening accounts and generating leads, which I never did.
  • Other Financial Officers (NOC 11109): This NOC seems to cover financial underwriters, but the duty description is very vague and doesn’t fully capture my day-to-day work.
HR is only providing a generic job description, so I don’t have the exact wording IRCC typically expects.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone in banking with a purely loan/credit analytical role faced this issue? Which NOC did you choose and how did you justify it?
  2. How do you handle situations where HR can’t provide the precise IRCC-friendly wording?
  3. What happens if IRCC disagrees with the NOC I select?

Any guidance or shared experiences would be super helpful!
