NOC Clarification

Hi,
I am planning to submit my application this month for PR under CEC category. I have a doubt regarding the NOC code for my occupation. I am under a WP and completed 2 years recently in July.
My old WP has occupation as 'Embedded Sys Software designer' and my new WP has 'Computer Analyst and Consultants'.

When I checked the NOC category, I am confused if my NOC code will be 2171 or 2173 or 2174.

Pls help. Thank you in advance.

What are your roles & responsibilities?

I work as Software developer and prodution support maintainance for Mainframe banking applications. I am fully into technical and does not do any managerial thing.

U can choose either 2173 or 2174

What is your designation in your company rolls? (Like Systems Analyst, IT Analyst, Software Engineer, Programmer etc)

As per my understanding you will fall under 2173 ... Analyst and Consultant ...

What ever your designation on your company rolls should match with the NOC code.

For ex, if your designation on your company rolls is Sr Software Engineer, you need search that title in NOC list and you will find this title under 2173.

Please provide your designation details and what role your company HR defines when they give you the employment confirmation letter. Based on these details, I should be able to guide you through the NOC code applicable to you.

Noc is not determined based on designation, it is determined based on role
One more thing 2173 is for software- engineers, designers, architect and testing engineers

2173 is not analysts and consults, it is 2171

However, 2173 or 2174 both would fit the description

I work as Mainframe systems programmer, so I think I will select 2174. But my work permit says 'Computer Analyst and Consultant'. Since it is more to do with the role I perform, so 2174 is the best match.
