Hi everyone,

This is my first post on this forum and I am hoping to get your valued guidance/ suggestions.

Profile:
Age as of May 2020 = 34
ECA= three years bachelors degree and a two year diploma ( which actually is a 2 years Bachelors in Commerce and 3 years MBA)
IELTS = R 6, W 6.5, L 8.5, S 8
Total work experience = 6 years
Current profile status = Inactive ( it's been almost two years)
Experience class= B
Marital status # married
Kids= 1
Spouse ECA= 4 years bachelors degree in computer science
Spouse IELTS= R 5, W 5, L 6, S 6.5
Spouse work experience = 5 years as software engineer
(She tried ielts few times, always 5 or 5.5 in at least 1 module)

Details:

I applied via a consultant in Dubai UAE almost 3 years ago ( I have been living and working in Dubai for 6 years now).

At the time of application, I was working as sales and marketing executive (retail industry) having almost 3 years of experience. My overall CRS was 397.

1 year ago, I got another job in another company as Assistant manager Retail sales and marketing.

The consultant said that if you continue with sales and marketing executive NOC, the chances are slim even via PNP but with your new job, Express entry chances are slim but PNP chances are high,

But, according to him, if I reactivate my profile and choose the new NOC code as assistant manager, that will bring my previous work experience to zero. To me that does not make sense because it is same field just different company.

Is the consultant right?

What shall I do?

Your input on this is extremely helpful and I would really appreciate all responses.

God bless.

First off the bat, if you want to be competitive, you need to improve your IELTS score.

You need at least CLB9 to be competitive, that's 8 and above in Listening and at least 7 in the other skills. This is why you're sub 400 points at the moment.

PNPs are not really in my area of knowledge, but i think you need to set your profile up as accurately as possible. I don't think you should pick an NOC which is different from your actual occupation, remember that when IRCC vet your profile, they will match your work references with your chosen NOC and see whether they match properly.

Another aspect is that your work experience does not have to be in the same NOC, so you can have experience in different occupations and it will still count towards your number of years you've worked. However, your most recent experience should be in the NOC you're applying for, and you need to have at least 1 year of continuous work experience to qualify for FSW. So you can apply for assistant manager and include your experience as sales and marketing executive, it will be fine.

This notion of having slimmer chances for EE is not really applicable, EE does not have any quota for different occupations, as long as your NOC counts as a skilled occupation, you will qualify for FSW. There is no list of occupations being sought or not sought after, it's just a matter of how many CRS points you have and whether you make the cut-off for a given round of invitation.

The consultant is most likely milking you for money. The best advice I can give you is to stay away from consultants. This forum is full of horror stories of consultants from Dubai. Save your money and if you are serious about immigration spend time and do your own research on PNPs. Your IELTS scores are too low and if your consultant hasn't told you that yet then he is anyways useless.
