Hello,

I would like your opinion about a decision that I need to make.

My express entry profile is about 7 months old now. I have a CRS of 440. Currently my preferred NOC is 5121 in my express entry profile. My current job is that of a technical writer and so I have set NOC 5121 as my preferred NOC.

From what I see online, none of the provinces have listed 5121 as one of the on demand job codes.

I began my career in customer / user support which corresponds to an NOC of 2282. Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia have listed 2282 as one of the on demand jobs.

Will it increase my chances of getting an ITA if I change my preferred NOC from 5121 to 2282? What do you think?

Regards,
Sundar

As long as you are talking about CIC ITAs, your NOC does not matter at all as long as you meet the NOC 0, A, or B requirements- if you do, you get the ITA no matter what, presuming your EE profile is eligible and over the CRS cutoff.
If you are hoping to get a PNP, and an ITA from a province, then again, your NOC does not matter if the province in question is Ontario, as long as the NOC 0, A, and B requirement is met. If you are looking at SINP, changing your NOC to something on their list may be fine, as long as you can demonstrate at least one continuous year of work experience in that NOC in the last five years.

Hello Aragorn165,

Thanks for your reply. I worked in the NOC 2282 job more than 5 years back. In the last 5 years I have been working as a technical writer which is NOC 5121.

So based on your suggestion, I will keep my preferred NOC as 5121.

Thanks a lot for the help.
