Hi all,

I found very limited reference to this. I am applying for Express Entry FSW. Official website says that RA/TAship experience as a student can be considered as work experience provided it is CONTINUOUS. I did my PhD in the US for 6 years and I was consistently employed as an RA/TA over Fall-Spring semesters (9 months) over these 6 years. However, over the summers, my RA/TAships were sporadic (sometimes 0 months, sometimes even 1-2-3 months), as my University often does not provide funding to PhD students over the Summers. I already received ITA but am curious if this will prove to be problematic.

Cheers!

You need one year, continuous skilled work experience with no gaps to be eligible for Express Entry. Working 9 months and then summer off & starting work again is not continuous. So yes expect it to be an issue.
