Congrats.
How many years did it take to get that?

My wife is a physio and we are awaiting our medicals this month and will send all related documents.
Whats the job market for Physiotherapists like in Canada?

regards.

We applied last year August 10, 2012.

Your wife need to apply for credential for license exam before she can practice/work as a Physiotherapists. for the mean time she can work as PT assistant in Canada while waiting for the license and that's what I did. I applied for my credential on April, it will take 1-2 years it depends if the documents is all accepted and valid.

she can check the Physiotherapy alliance for requirements.

Hope it will help.

after almost 5years i have finally concluded my credentialing.

Congratulations!

Wishing you Godspeed on the remaining stages.

I have taken a look at the start of this thread but it seems dated by now.
I would appreciate some advice regarding my situation.
I have completed a 5 year physiotherapy course at a reputable university in Belgium. i'm officially a master of physiotherapy and rehabilitation science. It has always been my intention to work abroad and it would either be in Australia or Canada.

The Australian government looks for physios but it is an absolute must to have 2 years of working experience before you can get in, and even then there are many pitfalls. Any issue with an employer means you have to leave the country and it takes many thousands of dollars before you finish the paperwork. Australia is a beautiful country but I find most people manipulative and egotistical, taking advantage of ''foreigners'' regardless of their degrees.
Becoming a resident is a complete hassle and after traveling here for 9 months by now I am interested in pursuing a physiotherapy career in Canada. I have met many Canadians in this country and if I have to choose between Australia and Canada I will pick Canada without any doubt.
A friend of mine is doing his PHD in Edmonton and tells me that Canada would be a great choice for me.

I have read about ''therapyEd'' as the ultimate preparation tool for the exam.
However, there is an exam for 'physiotherapy assistant' and an exam as a physiotherapist.

I have only recently graduated and I have ZERO working experience.
Am I better off going for the assistant exam first? I just want to optimize my chances and play it safe.
Am I better off gaining work experience in my homecountry first? That has never been my intention

Are physiotherapists still wanted by the Canadian government? And if so, are there other hurdles than passing for the exam before you can become a permanent resident in Canada?

Can I prepare the theoretical and practical exam from a distance? At the moment I'm in Australia and I can only do dirty no brainer jobs that no Australian wants to do.
I don't want to end up paying $330 for Ed's preparation tool and hear that it's dated when I get to Canada in 2014.

This is very important to me.
Hopefully somebody can give me more insight in the matter at this point in time

Important side note. French is the 2nd language in Belgium. I speak Dutch, English and basic French. It may help me out in the process

Kind regards

Hi Temi,
Nice to hear some good news, congrats for receiving your result.
I have sent documents in July 2012, only received acknowledgment letter and no news or update. I sent one email to them for update last week but no news till now. I don't know when will I hear something from them.

Hi Temi , sent you a PM. Pls respond.

@Tawakal , You just need to be a little patient, Once d alliance open file and send ur PIN, You can follow ur application status online on their website. processing time is currently 48weeks. All the best.

@ Khuwaja, I think you sould visit the alliance website @ www.alliancept.org and go through d credential applicants requirements. There are some docs u need to send to them and some others ur school need to send,
Get those docs and u are good to go. All the best.

I visted Alliance website and there is one problem that is I am from Pakistan and they have mentioned that Marksheet/Transcript must be send/courier by "higher education commission" (HEC), Islamabad, Pakistan, I approached HEC and they agreed to seal the transcript in envelope but denied to send to Alliance from their address. HEC ask me to send the envelope by myself.
What should I do, I wrote this thing to Alliance but till date they did not reply.
pls suggest

You meant that the HEC handed over the envelop to your brother and he directly sent it to the Alliance. In which city from your brother sent the envelope? via courier or mail?
