You may be better off to get your draft from a bank that can guarantee you no charges will be applicable at the Canadian end of the transaction. Ask your issuing bank for clarification on this. The issuing bank don't need to have a branch in Canada (only a few banks do). They do the clearing through an intermediary bank in which they (the original issuing back) hold an account. The name of the intermediary bank will be printed on the draft. If they insist on any clearance fee, ask if you can pay that in advance fro your end. Sending more than the required amount may confuse the Alliance and may delay the process.

I am yet to arrive in Canada. We are landing in 2 days time.

Thank you 9j

The Alliance will accept a Bank Draft/Demand Draft as long as it is issued in Canadian Dollar. You will not be charged extra by the Alliance as there are no charges associated with clearing the money in Canada. The only charges you will incur is the commission you pay your issuing bank from your own country.

Hope this helps

Download the application from www.alliancept.org.
What needs to be done is given on that.
There are some documents you need to send to them. And with the form u have some papers which u need to send to your college and they have to fill it and send to alliance directly. Additional documents detail, pls see from website.
Mean time u can also email allIance and ask them if they have your syllabus to consider you as a precedent case. ( if they have evaluated credentials of people from the school where you studied)

The cred Eval takes about an year or more in today's pace.
It will be wise enough to start this soon after you get your immigration file number.

Hello kg,
Alliance processing takes about an year n a half in today's pace. Since you have only got your file number now, u cannot do any courses now. Once the credential evaluation is done, they will send a report and suggest on what needs to be done if you are lacking credits in any area n so. Meanwhile you can prepare for the exams ( list of some books are given by 9j in previous posts)
And since you have already landed in Canada getting some PT exposure will also help lots in the exams.

Experts please advise and help kg if u have any further information!

Thanks,
4can

Thank u 4can.
An all d best for ur process :)

Hi,

Nice to see you've got a job going, albeit casual. Don't worry, the early days are always that challenging, but with a bit more perseverance, you'll be ok on the long run.

I'll advice you keep applying for PTA jobs. Are you open to relocation to provinces like ON, BC or AB? There may be better prospect for jobs there. Have you searched online for PTA jobs in those provinces? One other thing that may be of advantage: Now that you have a file number with the Alliance, you can include that on your CV and every cover letter that you send to prospective employers. Some employers usually look at long term when they employ PTAs and they may be encouraged if they know you have started your credentialing/licensing process. You may also have to reformat your CV to Canadian style if you haven't already done so.

It will not be advisable to start any study now in anticipation of your credentialing outcome. As 4can stated, you are better off waiting for the outcome of your evaluation so you can make the right decision what you need to do and the best way to approach it. I believe 4can is at that stage now and he's the best person to advice you on that.

My best wishes and please keep us updated

9j
Hello 9j,

Thank u for this guidance.
As per relocation is concerned I have given myself 6 months to settle in this particular city. If not a success then my next destination will b Alberta. I applied for few PTA jobs online but there was no response. Anything else I can try while I am in Saskatoon?

I will try to be active on this forum.

Thanks

Regards,
Kg

Alliance is taking almost for ever!
Status is still 'we have received all the documents we needed to begin your assessments'.
The wait is longer than the immigration process.
They just need to improve.

As for MI1 applications, they are going hand in hand- The immigration process and Alliance!

Hi Folks,

Just a quick update:

We landed on Sunday 26th August. The whole landing process (immigration and custom) took less than 15 minutes for a family of 4. Very nice and friendly officials all round. We are just settling in now, trying to catch up with other things. I'll keep you guys updated and try to respond to as many queries as possible. Please bear with me if there's a delay.
