Regulation of Physiotherapy in Canada
In order to practise physiotherapy in Canada, physiotherapists must be registered with the regulatory board or College of Physiotherapists in their province/territory. It is illegal to practice physiotherapy without being registered or licensed and there are laws governing the granting and removal of a physiotherapist's registration. The title ‘physiotherapist' or ‘physical therapist' is protected which means that to call oneself a physiotherapist one must be registered in that specific province/territory. For more information related to the use of title and credentials by physiotherapists in Canada contact the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators. http://www.thesehands.ca/

Following are the list of college:

Ontario

Alberta

Manitoba

hope that helps,

Yes dear,
we understand that physiotherapists need to be registered with the regulatory body...and go through the mandatory process of credentialing followed by the written and clinical components of the PCE
In your opinion, shall the credentialing be done alongside the immigration process or shall we wait for some positive signals with the immigration applications like call for medicals etc. in order to begin with the credentialing headache !!

Hi, NUNER,
No harm to start the credential process side by side with immigration application. It will save time and will be quick to book exam after landing.

Heyy I am not NUNER but JUNER lol :P
Good suggestion dear friend...but i guess its wise to wait a while and get some positive response from the immigration application, eg. medicals request etc. what do u say?
By the way....have u had ur credentialing done? what is the status of ur immigration application...pls can u share timelines? if already done credentialling with the alliance, how long it took u for getting credentialing done and proceeding for PCE written?

tahnks juner...

I have received an update from candian alliance of physiotherapy regulators.. They suggest to do PLAR in following..
1) statistics..2) geriatrics...3) neurological systems (assessment, physiotherapy diagnosis, evaluation and problem identification, speific physiotherapy intervention and treatement) 4) cardio respiratory system(assessment, phyisotherapy diagnosis, evaluation and problem identification)
I think the 1,3 and 4 are not discussed detail in my syllabus. So they ask me to get supporting documents from the university. I can get evidence from my university that I have done statistics in details whilst I was doing Msc

But the problem is with neurology and cardiothoracic.. in my syllabus they mentioned very briefly about cardio thoracic and neurology such as neurological , cardiothoracic condition snd the name of the conditions.. and they are not stating about the assessment, diagnosis, tratment etc.. Thats the way they are doing the syllabus. but we have studied all these things in university.
I asked my college to provide more details that I have studied theses in details but they refused as they said they cannot give me any documents if its not mentioned in my syllabus..
what should I do now.. If i am doing a PLAR n neuro and cardio thoracic is that a self study module or university one.. I am disappointed as I studied both these for one full year and they are even satisfied with my credit hours... I have to do it again only because college is not ready to gice me a detailed explantaion... moroever I have been working in a neuro rehabilitaion centre for past 4 years... Any suggestions????

GOT PER RECENTLY ..

MAY BE 4-5 MONTHS MORE TIME TO WAIT..

SUGGESTIONS NEEDED.
