I'm an feb 2010 applicant.
Ecas - processing started 15 march 2012
Got wait letter 6- 12 months Dated 23 march , LVO!
Ecas inaccessible since 3 weeks!
Any One here has got wait letter??
1 yr since crediantial Eval started. Still in process.

Hi,

I know how you feel regarding the credential evaluation process. The whole process seems to have gone into a stand still at the moment. The Alliance recently posted that they are now taking about 1 year to complete the initial evaluation for non precedent cases and about 6 months for precedent cases. You may need to factor an additional 6-12 months to that for those who may need to complete PLAR for educational deficiencies. That brings the average processing time from start to finish to about 2 years. Quite frankly, The Alliance appears to have stretched out the process out a bit by introducing the precedence/non-precedence clause. In my oppinion this is adding to the problem of the backlog.

I have always advised our colleagues that heading to Canada without at least completing the credential evaluation, may proof challenging. Word of advice: Start your credential evaluation well in advance of your immigration application.

Thanx for your response. I applied for cred. Eval soon after I got my file no. from LVO. It took an year for processing to began. So as u said it's always better to do the cred Eval well in advance. Thanx to my seniors who advised me. Now I'm worried I'll get my Eval results n hope they dont expire before I get my PR! Funny situation though! Any idea how long the Eval results are valid to apply for the PCE.

Credential Evaluation results are valid for 2 years. Seeing as you are yet to receive your evaluation result, you can be hopeful that your PR application would have come through long before then. What stage are you with the PR processing?

Nice to see you've gone IP. Barring any major delay with security clearance, LVO normally issues PPR within 6 months of going IP. I am not sure what the situation is with ecas accessibility these days as I haven't checked it in a while. I won't however worry about it. It could be something to do with system maintenance. I think the timing of both your PR application and the credential evaluation might be perfect. It does look like you should have both through in the next few months barring any need for PLAR with the Alliance.

About me: As you can see on my profile, I got my PR visa in May. Credential Evaluation was completed in January. CE took about 14 months. Some delays due to some clarification issue with my course curriculum back in my home country. We are planning to land in August and I am currently studying for the November written exam.

Plz suggest something. No one hires PTA in saskatoon.

I have a bachelors degree in PT. Does that effect in CE (not having a masters degree).
I have a PG diploma , but not sure how they will count that. Pls share if u know about this

I don't think it matters much per se if one has a Bachelor or a Masters. The important factor based on my observation is the course contents covered during one's training(s). Completing a thesis based Masters programme for example, will add little or nothing to the evaluation outcome if one had previously completed Research methodology at undergraduate level.

I think the longer one had qualified as a PT, the more deficiencies one might have as some of the content areas such as Evidence based practice, case based integration, Primary Health care etc might not have been covered during one's initial PT training. However, as in my case, if you undertake a post-grad programme that covered some of these 'new' content areas, it is in your best interest to put them forward as part of your credentialing package as it will make a huge difference to your credentialing outcome.

Re Exams: As the exam draws near I am focusing mainly on the study guide and practice questions on the O'Sullivan NPTE book and score Builders. Occasionally I make references to the big Sullivan Physical rehabilitation book and for references especially for the test and measurement I refer to McGie Orthopedic Assessment book. In my opinion, the major challenge for most internationally trained PT is the lack of familiarity with exam format. The written exam uses a vignette (case Scenario) format and people who are not familiar to this type of exam and the psychometric skills needed in answering the question can be easily tripped off regardless of the dept of one's knowledge or pre exam reading.

Ok. According to the Alliance website, it is now taking up to 51 weeks ~ a year to complete cases that are unprecedented. Do you know of anyone from your school who completed the Alliance credentialing in the last 6 months? if you do, your evaluation might be quicker.

The situation with PTA in Canada is not yet clear cut as they are not yet as regulated as they are in the US. In relatively quieter province as in Sask, you may struggle to get a PTA jobs in privately owned clinics as PTs tend to juggle both PT and PTA roles together. You may stand better chance if you try your luck with bigger rehabilitation facilities as in retirement homes, community rehabilitation centers etc.
