Great China_Fsw :)

I have been advised by some mentors to complete as many technical certifications as possible before we arrive in Canada.

Data work is in demand in Canada like in the world now so certification around data will help.

all my exp. in MS SQL server only, no oracle exp, but I can learn it of course

or should I refine my MS SQL and oracle skills?

I see from my research there are ms sql server jobs .If you want to add any new skill it has to be around big data technologies as there is demand for data analytics professionals.

Hadoop, Mongo DB, R programming and SAS are the courses I would recommend now if you are interested to add few.

These are the highest paid skills in the world now.

From what I have seen online, there looks to be decent oppertunities for SQL and BI professionals.
As you have already pointed out, I would also suggest everyone to get a Local number and start applying while you are still in native country.
You can get the calls to that number forwarded to gmail or skype.

Also, make sure you have your linkedIn profiles updated.

MDV, apart from job portals like Workpolis or Indeed, are you aware of any recruitment firms of consultancies, which might help job search on a more personal level.
