Hi Friends,

Need your help! I submitted my PR application in Jun 2017, after receiving ITA in April 2017.

After that CIC asked me to submit two additional documents (our family's foreign travels and my husband's service records - he was a member of Indian Armed Forces). The last query (my husband's service records) was raised in Feb 2018, which was replied to within 7 days.

There has been no update on my application since then. I asked for ATIP, it shows that my husband's security clearance is under progress.

Any suggestions! I am worried because of the excessive delay... over two years. Please help!

It’s better to write an email to the minist Ahmed Hussein minister for immigration refugee and citizenship for the government of canada.

Only he can help

Only he can help? Is there any legal steps that I can take? Is it normal to have 2 years wait in some cases? What are my options at this stage apart from contacting the Minister?

Submit a Web form or Call?

Informing them that it’s been two years and way beyond the 6 months standard processing, and whether they need further information from your end for your application to push forward?

Applications for people who have been with the military take longer than normal to process

- Have been doing that once every two months.
- In addition, have been reaching out to my local MP once every three months.

I am looking for any other option that I have.... anyone?

@Tinotia other option is you contact an immigration lawyer in canada and let him do the correspondence with the ircc on ur behalf and as per his suggestion he can move to court or any other legal remedy available

Just curious - how much time?
No one can tell you that. Applications for people with a background in armed forces will have a broader background security check, and will take longer depending on the country where you served and if your were placed (deployed in another country). And just to add, the Minister cannot help you speed up the process, nor will the MP especially when it comes to processing that involves another country (for instance background check/security screening). They can only ask about your application, but they cannot interfere with the IRCC decisions. You can try ordering your notes again, to know if there is anything that needs to be taken care of etc.

I agree. :) Armed forces background check needs an extra eye. So it takes time . @Tinotia the best is to wait
