No Option C

My wife and I have been married for almost 8 years, she was 24 when she left Canada for the US and I don't think she had filed for taxes at that point because she never worked. She hasn't filed(in canada) while we have been in the US because she hasn't worked here or made any income. Should I just put a letter explaining the situation, and that we will be filing her taxes imminently and wait to see if it's an issue? Or should I wait to get the Option C printout? I really want to get this stuff off in the mail, I think this is the last little needle in the haystack that I haven't collected. I have joint tax returns from the US where she's listed with me, although she didn't add any income. Would these carry any weight?

She has no income, no assets, nothing... she's wholly supported by me. I have a good job(that I can continue in from Canada over the internet), we own a house in the US, etc. I don't think it will be a problem, but it seems like the biggest hole in the application.

In a worst case scenario, how long does it take to file taxes and get the Option C printout?

I don't think it'll matter as long as you explain yourselves thoroughly.

Send it without Option C -- it's not as though the Option C is going to show anything anyways.

My better half didn't have an option c either. We explained thoroughly why she had been out of work for so long (and it was because of all the travelling to be with me). I think if you're honest then it will be fine.
