Yeah, but what JALT was saying was that assume in the pool right now (numbers are made up to explain the concept only):
800 people with 482 and above
2000 people with 481 and above

If the CIC plans to issue 1500 ITAs, they won't go on and issue 2000 ITAs because that is a bit too much above what they have in mind. However, 800 ITAs are a bit short of the 1500 goal. So maybe they decided to wait until the number of people with 482 and above goes up to around 1500 and then they can issue ITAs.

They might consider dispersing the bottle neck by bringing in the awaited points for education though.

Food for thought - I saw many topics on the points. However, I don't think they really care about the points. They care about the number of people being invited. So, if they want to invite 1500 people and if that can only happen by making a draw at 450 points they will do it. Similarly, if the room is just to invite 100 people and if that can happen by drawing at 1000 points, they draw accordingly.

The ONLY reasonable and sensible post on this entire forum. Something I've been saying since long. All this analysis and calculation and "prediction" is horsesh**. People think "because the ITA number is x, score will be y. Well, WHAT if THEY, that is CIC, decide "Hey, we want the score to be set at 465 and we want to give out 1500 ITAs? THEN what? Then it means all your analysis is a total waste of time.

The only issue I have with all this is their radio silence on what's happening. "Changes are coming" really? Well I don't see them, or the 4 month over due mid year report.

If you can't even release a simple report (details of which many users on this forum have figured out themselves), then how can I trust you to come up with your "changes" correctly.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that if you don't invite below 481 for months on end - with no explanation I might add, there will be a significant build up of applicants at that number, which eventually will be larger than a draw can contain (Since you can't invite say 50% of people with that score).

And the only way to fix this issue is to either do massive invites, never go down below that score, or split the stream up.

Now, if you want immigrants to come to this country, which you say you do, then you have to make it easier for them. No one wants to waste years of their life for a "maybe you can stay, but we won't tell you anything lel", then they have to be smarter and more open about it.

I agree. That's why all this 481/482 points speculations with number of ITAs go down to the water. They have quotas, and even if there are 2500 people with 481 points, I don't see why they couldn't do 2 draws in a row with total of 3000 ITAs (an avg 1500 per draw). How they want to do it is completely up to them: 2500+500, 2000+1000, or 1500+1500, or whatever. Points are completely irrelevant for these figures. They can easily figure them out by having an insight into pool. All what matters at the end is yearly quota.

PNP/LMIA and General Pool needs to be split. The General pool should have a fixed ITA based on their target. Any ITAs left over at the end of each quarter can be added to give lower ranking people a chance.

CIC ought to offer a formal explanation as to the goings-on of low ITAs since May and what is likely to happen in future. If something has gone wrong with unexpectedly high landings, problem with backlog, new lower target etc, this all ought to be communicated.

If this is a permanent shift and no one below 481 is likely to be invited, this too should be made clear so that people's time is not wasted.

yeah well that defeats the whole purpose of applying for PNP and LMIA ... lower rank candidates will apply for PNP and LMIA, if their score is very high they will get ITA automatically... why would they even apply for PNP

Trend says draw will open on second and 4th wednesday every month. That means today any time draw will be opened.
