no AOR yet and temporary status issuing soon

Hi all,

My husband and I sent the PR application under Family Sponsorship at the end of January 2019 but we haven't received the AOR yet. We know it can take a few more weeks but his temporary visa is issuing soon. We really don't know what to do. I'm trying to call the IRCC but it seems impossible to talk to someone if you don't have a UCI... which we're supposed to get once we receive the AOR.

AOR wont give him any legal status! He need to extend his status (visitor i guess?) before his current status expires. You may not get AOR until the end of April. Did you apply for work permit?

Yes, he applied for an open work permit.

Then you will need to keep the current status until he will have the WP approved. Just apply for current visa extension on time.(tip: you can apply on paper instead of online. that will give you a bit more time. Just make sure that the app is not lost in the mail!!)

We already sent the WP application and they should have received it on January 25th, 2019. We were just wondering can he stay over his time even if he hasn’t received the AOR, since we sent the application more than 30 days before his status expires.

Yes - he can stay. However you would be best to apply for an extension to his stay as well in case the PR/OWP application is returned as incomplete.
