My husband landed under the family class in September 2018. We are expecting a baby in a few months and we’re trying to figure out if he can take parental leave. It’s classified as EI and I know there is a ban on new PRs getting social assistance for the first three years. Any insight would be welcome. Thanks.

EI is not social assistance.

Would depend on whether he has been working for 600 hours the year before the birth of the child.
