Hey guys

After 2 years in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia I'm happy to have my Canadian working holiday visa approved.
I am on a 4 month break now in my homecountry, and I can work here and grow some bankroll before I come to Canada.
I haven't even picked my starting location yet, but I'll fly out at the end of august. I'd like to work near Whistler, meet some backpackers and learn how to ski.

Can you guys recommend any jobs/areas that are available all year? In Whistler, the ski season only starts in november and I'll be around 2 months before that.
I don't intend to become rich while working in Canada but I do hope to cut down on expenses. Volunteer work with animals or something like it

Also, is transport across the big cities in Canada affordable?
I just had a look at prices of transport by train and it seems very expensive. It said something like Toronto - Vancouver for $600

I'd like to visit all big cities and I am looking for the most affordable transport across Canada.

As for traveling across the country - bus (e.g. Greyhound) is probably the cheapest commercial means of transportation. However it's also typically slower than a train and definitely not as comfortable. I think you should be able to get from Vancouver to Toronto for less than $200 if you go by bus and buy your ticket enough in advance. Keep in mind that Canada is a big country and the drive between Toronto and Vancouver is around 40 hours if you were to do it without stopping. The bus will stop lots. So expect this trip to take around three days if you go direct.

I would also check out rail passes if you plan to take several trips between cities. This may also be a good option.
