Hello,
I am immigrating to St.John's, Newfoundland in the next 4 days, but we have not had any accommodation there yet because my husband will be there with me for 2 weeks before he is leaving for his work abroad. Thus, we do not have enough time for housing research and with my husband's time limit, we want to see how it goes for both of us firstly such as weather, surroundings, works, schools,etc. We will rent an apartment for 6 months contract if available firstly then we will be searching for a house. We are looking for an apartment which is great surroundings, easy to access to facilities/transportation, safe, quiet, private, and inexpensive. Our budget is not over than C$ 500 per month with furnished furniture and those relevant concerns if possible for the first 6 months.Here are my questions;
1) Is the apartment rental contract available for 1 year in St. John's at least? What if we would need only 6 months contract? Could you please recommend some if any of those criteria concerned if available?
2) Which areas are safe for woman living alone mostly and good for kids to live in St.John's area?
3) Are there any free services that provide free temporary accommodation for the first 6 months for landed immigrants (In this case, if we still have privacy and not be bothered by noise or neighbors)?
Thank you
