Just wondering what my best course of action is... I was in Canada for a summer in 2002 and just finished a year long stay recently. I'm from Ireland and looking to get PR. I don't think LMO is an option really as I don't have unique skills / qualifications to distinguish me from Canadian workers. I have a canadian girlfriend who I'm moving in with when I return on a 1 year working holiday visa in Feb / March.

Is my best option to live with my gf for a year and she can sponsor me as a common law spouse? I was told that I can't work or leave Canada while waiting for that? I can't stay on and not work! Or would it be better if she moved to Ireland with me and we applied from here?

The job I do is in restaurant management which is a "required job" on the list but I was told it's nearly impossible to be sponsored as one?

Thanks in advance

Yes - LMOs are quite difficult to get - even for those with specialized skills and experience.

Common law sponsorship is likely the best way to go for you. Start by reading the very first post in the following thread - it should answer many of your questions:

Thanks for the link. I've been with my girlfriend for 6 months now, we've been apart for 3 of those because my working holiday visa ran out. She has come visit me in Ireland for a holiday. I will be moving in with her when I return. Do I need to wait for 12 months of living with her before I can be a common law spouse?

Also, if I live with her for 12 months and we apply for PR for me as Common Law, can I work while I'm waiting to get it? I will be in Canada on the IEC visa for the 12 months. I can't live in Canada without working while I wait, I'd just move home if necessary
