Hi,
I came to Toronto, Canada on closed work permit (intra-company transfer) in July 2011.
My temporary resident visa is valid till July 2014. Last month I had to resign from my job due to extra ordinary circumstances.
Now I am getting contracting opportunity from multinational Information Technology company to work in Toronto.
My question is could I apply for new work permit on basis of this contract ?
I also found that there is NoC for software developer in services category. Could I avail NoC - 9990.5 so that I do not require LMO ?
How long it takes for end to end processing of getting new Canadian work permit ?

Thanks in advance for your guidance and support.

Thanks,
Neerav

1. Your prospective employer will have to apply for a LMO after advertising the position on the job bank for 2 weeks, and then demonstrate to HRSDC where there were no Canadians/PRs qualified for the position. If approved, you then can apply for a new work permit. You can't start work until the work permit is issued. So you are looking about anywhere from 10 to 18 weeks depending on the province.
2. That program for software developers no longer exists.
