What happens when the cap limit is reached and I want to apply for PR under Federal Skilled Worker route? Will they send back my application? What happens if I somehow manage to get a permanent job offer from a Canadian employer? Will the cap limit be waived off for my application? I am yet to file the app (maybe this month). Currently I work for a top 20 fortune 500 company as a Senior Network Security Engineer (firewalls, routers etc etc) and have a total of 6.5 yrs experience (I am 27 yrs old). Looking at the activity on this forum, I feel the limit threshold would have reached by this time :-X. I personally don't believe me landing in Canada without a job offer. My goal is to start working off the bat so that I don't need to feel the heat even a bit :D. Please guide me people, I am new to all of these... Thanks.

Regards,
Swa

Right - if the cap is reached, your application won't be considered.

Applications with an AEO (HRSDC approved employment offer) are not subject to a NOC cap.

Ok, say if I can get an arranged offer, how do i move my application? I'm preparing for the worst. Should I send them the application again saying that I have an arranged offer and my PR process needs to be expedited? Thanks guys!!

Just a slight correction, there is no longer an AEOs, The prospective employer has to obtain a LMO. See: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp?expand=arranged#arranged

Thanks PMM. Things are always in a state of flux in this business. Actually, removing the AEO distinction makes things easier.

You can certainly try to amend your existing application. They are not going to "expedite it" but because it is the same class of application they should be ok with amending it, assuming they haven't already returned your application because they are over the cap for that NOC category. If you don't have a file number or a UCI, I wouldn't send anything else in though - the risk of losing it is too high.

Keep copies of everything you send to CIC. Use a courier service that obtains a signature.
