New delhi visa office - passport

I m in US, and my VISA office is in New delhi. How can I send my passports to New Delhi Visa office ? Is it legal to send passports out of country staying in another country?
Is there any alternate ways for this ? Does anyone gone through similar situations ?

It is illegal to send passport from other country to home country, so u have to come in India to submit passport. I was in Australia and my visa office is Delhi, so I came in India for submission of passport.

Did you get the passport request?
If so, mostly consulate explain how to send the passport. If not explained in the letter then You can send the password with anyone you know who is travelling india with authorization letter and they can submit in the consulate.

I have gone through several threads, some say it's possible to send by courier at the same time it is very high risk incase of any issue arise.
Do you know how long they will take for canada VISA? so that I can plan for my vacation.
