Hello , I Understand this has probably been asked before, but unable to find specific posts. Hence the post.
I request experienced members/applicants to kindly quote/advise from their exprience.

I (F28) will be applying as a skilled worker from New Delhi.
I will be the primary applicant .!
I am not claiming any points for my husbands education or work experience.

So,

1. Is it mandatory for me to furnish proof of his education and work experience documents as I am not claiming points and hence my application will not be decided upon by his education/work credentials ? (There will be a mention in Section 1 BackGround Information though).

2. I understand the proceedure is Application ->Medical -> Interview
If the interview is going to be in New Delhi, is it mandatory for the spouse to attend ( as points are not being claimed ) . Will the invitation for interview ask me to bring by husband also and our 4 months old baby ?

3. Proof of funds: Is it enough if I show for the two of us or should I include an additional 8000CAD for our baby too who is only 4 months ?

Thanks

Also

1. I am going the DIY way. Why do I read that some applicants sent the documents at a later stage ? My understanding is that the application, alongwith all supporting documents must be sent to New Delhi at the first instance! Please advise on this.

2. My husband's sister is a Canadian and has a Canadian Passport . So, would her Canadian passport copy alone be sufficient for the 5 points under adaptability or other documents as in the Income Tax Returns (Canada Revenue Agency), Credit card statements, bank statements, telephone bills mandatory ?

Thanks

It is advisable to submit them since they are part of the documents requested.

You will be informed if you are to bring them along.

3. Proof of funds: Is it enough if I show for the two of us or should I include an additional 8000CAD for our baby too who is only 4 months ?
Since you are three in number in your family, you must show sufficient funds for three people.

Thanks

It is better to send all documents if you can, 'cause sending them in bits and pieces can slow down your application process by some couple of months.

You will need all the other documents as well prove her been in Canada.
Thanks

Thanks barsindoo for your inputs.
I had the doubts because , what if my spouse is not educated ? Obviously my case will be decided upon my credentials only and him being unemployed in past few years or being a school dropout should not affect my application, me being the principal applicant !

The bottom line is , I am migrating under the skilled class and my husband is my dependent . ( can I mention this in the covering letter ? )

Has anybody been aked to furnish spouse education/work , despite not claiming points for the same ?

thanks

That's fine. If your partner is not educated, there might be no need to send documents relating to his education.

A covering letter plus filling the forms with necessary details will be ok.

3. Proof of funds: Is it enough if I show for the two of us or should I include an additional 8000CAD for our baby too who is only 4 months ? .....You will have to show the amount for three people as mentioned on the website

The canadian passport only proves that she is canadian other documents will prove that she is currrently residing in canada. Hope that helpsThanks

Yes agreed that if you are not claiming points for your husband's edu etc it should not hamper your application. You will have to fill his information on edu+work in his forms etc.
But is it only me that the above case does ring a bell. It does look out of the way. I would advise you to be careful on this and take advise from some seniors esp PMM, Leon, Qorax et al.

All the best.

1. My understanding is that you don't need to submit educational and work documents if you are not claiming points for him and he is not accompanying you, but if he's accompanying you I think you have to show the documents because there would be verification involved. His being a dropout or unemployed shouldn't affect your chances.

2. Very few cases are called for interview these days, but all immediate family members MUST undergo medicals even if they're not accompanying. This is a great manual you can refer to and it will answer almost all of your questions - http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/resources/manuals/op/op06-eng.pdf Page 11 - All family members, accompanying or not, are required to be examined unless an officer decides otherwise.

3. Proof of funds: Page 16. Note: In terms of funds required, the number of the applicant’s family members includes both accompanying and non-accompanying dependants. So, you have to show funds for the 3 of you.

The first stage for FSW is to file the basic application to CIO, NS, Sydney. After approval from there, you need to send all documents to ND. You will not get a second chance/extension/request for more documents in the second stage. It's solely dependent on the documents you submit. Remember to submit all documents which are even slightly relevant. About your sis-in-law, submit all available documents to prove she's a Canadian citizen/PR. Btw, I'm unsure whether you can claim points for her when your husband is non-accompanying.

Hello charmeuse , Thanks for your inputs.

1. Regarding submission of initial application to CIO at Sydney , I am confused. According to document E37029, Visa Office Specific Instructions , Page A-7 Mailing Your Application, clearly mentions that I need to send to New Delhi. No where it mentions that I need to send to Sydney at the first instance. Is there a possibility that they require all new applicants to send to New Delhi and not Sydney. Please let me know your inputs after reffering to the document.

2. My husband is accompanying me. So irrespective of whether I claim points or not , I have to furnish his credentials. ?! I was only hoping a PCC would be sufficient for non-points claiming spouse.

3. My sis-in-law is a housewife. Who is unable to provide us with Income Tax receipts or Credit Card statements or employer details. She has assured us of her passport, birth certificate, Bank statement, rental agreement.

Thanks for your inputs.

1. For a DIY person, you need to do a lot more research before applying - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/skilled.asp - follow the instructions carefully.
The visa office specific forms only come at the second stage. No need to consult E37029 now.

2. Yes, you will have to furnish his credentials for background check and verification.

3. Those should suffice. Confirm at the site what all they request for.

Hi I realise my mistake . I should take time to read and understand more carefully. Now I have a fair understanding of the process. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Couple of further doubts here,

1. Passport Biodata page , is just the name/photo page right ?
2. Schedule 3, to be sent to CIO asks about IELTS and asks to attach the proof. Isnt this contradicting ? I am yet to take IELTS ( next month ). Can I send the initial application now, saying I have taken IELTS and then when the Visa Office asks for documents, send the IELTS score. This would save me a lot of time I suppose

thanks

1. Photocopy of all pages of passport, expired as well as new- need not be notarized.
2. Language proficiency - English - tick high high high high
