Right ! I was single when I got passport request (may04/17). I contacted CPC-Ottawa to inform them that In was planning to get married and if I could add my wife to my application. They said your application was approved based on your marital status as single. Your application can not be re-opened for this issue. Either you can withdraw this application and re-apply after getting married or become PR and sponsor your wife in Family Class category.
I called IRCC even before going for landing to inform about my marriage. They still said you can become PR and sponsor your wife in Family Class. My wife should have been examined at this point but they didn't ask for any information. Even officer at landing asked me to put NO in dependent information in COPR and said this application was approved when you were single so write NO in dependent information.

I believed them and now I am stuck. I hope I can find a way to get out of this soon ! And thanks again for your support because sometimes hearing some positive about your concern make you feel a lot better. Thanks!
I have gone through the same situation. I got my PR in Sept 2016 as single applicant. I went to Canada for landing and after 20 days I came back to India in October, got married in Nov 2016. Then applied for my husband's PR under family class. You should have landed as a single applicant. You were approved as single applicant but you landed as married so they considered this as misrepresentation. You should consult a lawyer, only he will be able to guide you properly.

In my case I did my landing before getting married so I did not get any problem. I was approved single, I landed single. After doing my landing I got married. But you got married before your landing.

Earlier I was also thinking to do my landing after getting married, but then I get to know this can be considered as misrepresentation while sponsoring my husband. So I did my landing before getting married.

@RBV - You need a lawyer. As @samandp mentioned, you should not have landed after marriage as a single applicant. The family composition has changed between issuance of COPR and the day you became PR.
There is even a line on COPR that asks you 'Have you any dependants other than those listed below?' under Dependant Information section. Wife is a dependant and you might have signed it with a No next to the question - which is misrepresentation.

Samandp's scenario is different than yours - he/she landed as a PR then he got married so he/she is applying for sponsorship. In your case IRCC may not qualify you as sponsor. So talk to a lawyer than asking us for advice here since we are not legal experts in a complicated scenario like yours. Thank you!

Thank you! I knew I had to declare my spouse at time of landing. I informed the immigration officer about change in my marital status during landing. The officer was reluctant about what to do in this situation. He talked to another officer in the same office and they told me to write NO in dependent information and said your application was approved when you were single. I had no reason to doubt on them since they are the experts.

I am going to talk to a lawyer soon but the thing is I am paying for believing and following the officer's suggestion.
