Hi all,

First of all many many Congratulations to all who got DM, PPR, And Shiny Shiny Visa.
Also Congrats and Good luck to those who got IP.

Finally, My file is In Process. ;D My wife (in India) checked it around night time on Oct. 02, 2015 and she found it In Process. Status on the outside has been changed to IP. No extra lines has been added inside yet. Wanted to let you guys know little sooner but we had (rare) power outage here in Edmonton.

Hopefully other Oct. Nov. & Dec. guys will soon get IP as well.

Hello P. Thank you for all your insight !! So if partner travelled a lot to visit friends on vacations are you saying this could effect time it takes to process application and checks? This could hold up process? Just trying to understand why takes so long.

Hi Magnoliabuddy. As long as the trips were only vacations and not permanent stays for 6 months or more, it shouldn't affect the processing time because there won't be any police clearance involved in that case. It's taking so long because the officers at NDVO have been sleeping on our files all this time and now they need to speed up as most people are nearing the end of the processing time period provided on the CIC website. Don't worry.

1. Yes , I do have travel history - UK and Dubai as a visitor. Not for long, just short holidays.
2. In the right hand corner - s.19(1) is mentioned. I found out the following :

Personal information

19. (1) Subject to subsection (2), the head of a government institution shall refuse to disclose any record requested under this Act that contains personal information as defined in section 3 of the Privacy Act.
Marginal note:Where disclosure authorized

(2) The head of a government institution may disclose any record requested under this Act that contains personal information if
(a) the individual to whom it relates consents to the disclosure;
(b) the information is publicly available; or
(c) the disclosure is in accordance with section 8 of the Privacy Act.

4. Additional documents were - A) Travel history - Mine and my husbands. We attached the passport stampings of each and every travel etc.
B) My work details + personal details since when I turned 18 years old. (This was submitted, yet they asked again)

Regarding MP inquiry, 4 days after the request from NDVO for remeds and additional docs, we got a call from the MP's office asking us to submit these documents. We informed them that we have received the request and shall submit asap.

1. They didn't ask you to submit the PCC for the above mentioned countries right??
"An applicant who has lived in a country for 6 months or more" then they consider it as travel history.

2. Oh ok!! Yes, s.19 refers to Personal information that's why they had asked you 4 additional docs related to travel docs and regarding your stay and work since 18 years.

As far as your background checks are concerned I guess they have almost completed and are quite satisfied in order to avoid further delay on your file they have asked for re-medicals

They wanted to re - conform regarding the stay and travel history that's why they have asked for additional docs.

So you can chill your file is almost through ;D

Here travel history refers to "an applicant who have lived in a country for 6 months or more and have asked to submit the PCC of those countries"

Who needs a police certificate?
In general, you and all the people in your family who are 18 or older need to get a police certificate. You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18. (For example, if you lived in a country for eight months but left on a two-week vacation, that counts as living there for eight months.)

For the country you currently live in, the police certificate must be issued no more than six months before you apply.

For countries where you have lived for six months or more, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you lived in that country.

Vacations wouldn't be a problem so you can chill

Omg !! 8 months more! This is unacceptable. They should not be able to keep families apart like this. We try to follow all rules and this is what we get in return. A friend brought her fiancé from South Africa already. Not even a few months!! So unfair

Yes this is totally unacceptable. I am getting so frustrated. We were not even together to celebrate our first wedding aanniversary together . I wish they understand our situation and issue visa soon. They have not even touched our file yet.

Remed request: August 24, 2015

Which means they haven't finished the Security/Background check when they sent the ReMed Request. There is no way that they finish the security/background in 20 days of you going In-Process (at least that's what I have observed from other members).
Usually eligibility is passed if you get In-Process (not always the case though).

Sorry for the delayed reply Just now noticed it.
That was before. Now a days, moment visa officer start processing the file they change to IP.
As far as background checks are concerned it takes 2 to max 3 weeks of time (in case of travel history at times delays that too depends on the countries) got this info from an x im officer
And will also give you a small example
Consider a file of an applicant who has an interview.
If you would have noticed almost all applicants get their interview only on the 14th or the 15 th month of the file transfer
After clearing the eligibility criteria they start verifying the other checks like medicals,security,criminality,RFV all this is done with in 2 months of time.
Almost all the applicants whoever has interview gets their PPR request and get their visa stamped with in the time line of 16/17 months.Just few cases would have got delayed.
So now you yourself imagine how quick all this process could be. : :

My status changed to decision made almost 2 weeks back. Still nothing from NDVO. I called the MP office and the very nice lady told me she will call New Delhi and find out. So, by Monday she said she will email me. She did check last time (end of aug 2015) for me and my status did chance to in process after that, re-meds and then decision made. I don't know why they are waiting to send me a PPR! My daughter wants her dad for trick or treating for Halloween in Toronto. For the last 15 months I have been breaking her heart (father's day, birthday, etc.)since we moved back here. She says she wants her real daddy here and not her 'Skype daddy"! It's so upsetting how when everything is done with our file they are still making us wait! This whole process just took a great toil out of my family!
