Hey guys, I'm a Canadian citizen (previously Indian citizen). I'm thinking of visiting my husband in India for 2 weeks while our application is in process. Which visa should I apply for? Can I apply for tourist visa or I have to apply for the entry visa? I don't want to apply for the wrong visa and end up with problems in the future.
Thanks!

Thanks Pamma97!!

Hi

We received the e-mail on Apr 12, 2014 requesting the following documents :

1. Proof of Payment of your Right of Permanent Resident Fee (landing fee) to our office in Mississauga or by your sponsor in Canada, if not already paid.

2.Submission of police clearance certificates for time spent in any country for a period of 6 months or more, if not already submitted.

I did submitted the requested documents, later there are no updates.
Can please guide , how long does it take for the Passport request :( :( :( :(

Hey guys, I am a new member here also I am in the same boat as most of Jan/FeB14 applicants are..

Here are some of my details,

Application Received : 17-Feb-14 (Mississauga CPC)
File Transferred : 01-Apr-14 as sponsorship approved on 16-Mar-14 (New Delhi)
Current Status : In process since 10-Sep-14

Now, my key question is how long does it take to get the passport request as there are many applicants from last year yet to get their visa. Will they going to take 15 (+/- 2)months to clear all or most of the files??

Welcome to the forum, good luck with your application....please keep us posted regarding updates...

I think if your were an indian citizen, you can apply for OCI - Oversees Citizen of India card. that would be the best. You can apply at the indian embassy in torronto. i think they take 2-3 months for OCI process. Not sure you need to check.

Canadian citizen just visiting india for 2 weeks can apply for tourist visa, which should be fairly easy to get. Within a day at the embassy and 1 week to 10 days by post. this is my understanding - other seniors can comment....

good luck with your application...can you share your timeline?

I thought about oci but they ask for spouse's landing paper which isn't available. We haven't submitted our application yet, aiming for mid October. Planning to visit in jan. I'm worried if I apply for tourist visa, and when they ask me at the customs , I tell them I'm visiting husband, will that be a problem? I read somewhere that if we are visiting spouses, it has to be entry visa. I've travelled on tourist visa before I was married.

They usually don't send AOR to that submission, we updated new passport but they never sent acknowledgement.

And they are on Jan Feb with some pending from 2013 still.

They changed processing time to 15 months.

I really wish we could invite the clerks at NDVO to come join this forum for encouragement.

Guys good morning...
