There is no difference in the Spousal Sponsorship application if you are a Canadian Citizen or a PR holder except in case of Canadian Citizen for Outland he or she can stay with his/her spouse in his/her country while the PR Application is in process where as if you are Canadian PR you have to stay in Canada while the PR Application of your spouse is under process.

All the BEST,
GULZAR !!!

Hi Gulzar

Thanks for all the help here. I just want to know if you can provide me a supporting document/link that shows PR cannot leave country during process. It may be a factor when I apply for my spouse later.

Thanks again.

Hi Chakrab,

Welcome to the Forum !!!

This rule I have read in many forums but I don't have the link for the same as of now. The Best way is that you can contact CIC Call Centre and ask them about this question for further clearance. Or you can take the consultancy from any reputed Immigration Consultant/s.

I am sure about it that in case of Canadian Citizen for Outland he or she can stay with his/her spouse in his/her country while the PR Application is in process where as if you are Canadian PR you have to stay in Canada while the PR Application of your spouse is under process.

All the BEST,
GULZAR !!!

As a PR he has to be in Canada till the processing is complete.He/She can take short trips of 2-3 weeks with 6-9 periods but not longer than that...

Processing of file has nothing to do if he travels to India but make sure he returns back as soon as possible....

Hello Everybody

I am a Canadian PR and sponsoring my husband soon. I just came back to Canada after getting married in India.

I wanted to share this info that there is NO restriction on PR sponsoring their spouse on travelling while the application is in process. I myself have plans of travelling to India again once I file application. I confirmed it by calling CIC. They mentioned, I can travel anywhere for as long as I want to.

Felt like sharing it with evryone.

Thanks
Vani
