Too all those who are depressed and going crazy from this long process! Hey in there ! U are all in good company - all of us are anxious and desperate to be reunited with or hubby's n wives. I've cried a ton!!! And nothing good came of it - I tried not smiling for 1 week to anyone ! That didn't work either ... The only thing from this misery I accomplished was I swear I aged 3 years more in just 10 months!!! More wrinkles etc... :( just be content that you've made it this far n keep yourselves busy meantime :) ❤❤❤

Hello all,

Well some good news to share - my wife got a call from NDVO earlier today and they explained that the processing is all done for my wife and the visa is ready to be sent out (her application had changed to 'in process' on August 7th). However, they had asked whether she would be able to travel before November 20, which is when her medicals expire.

So our case is not exactly straightforward - we have 3 children who will also be coming with us to Canada. However, the children could not be sponsored because they hold the right to Canadian citizenship (since I was a Canadian citizen when they were all born in India). So basically they are already presumptive Canadian citizens. For the children it is a different process - we need to apply for their proof of Canadian citizenship (and we already did this in July), and that will take 12 months to complete. However since the process to receive the citizenship certificates will take a long time, we were advised that we could apply for a 'facilitation visa' for the kids (which is essentially a normal temporary resident permit visa) - which will allow the children to enter Canada with their parents while the citizenship comes through. The catch: we can only apply for the children's visa once my wife's PR is approved.

So now we're in a bit of a difficult situation here. Since my youngest one is still only 2, there's no way my wife can come into Canada on her own without our children. The options in front of us:

1. Tell NDVO that we can travel before November 20th, and let them send the visa. In fact we were thinking of even going to NDVO directly to pick up my wife's passport and apply for the children's visa right then and there. But only if we receive the kids' visa before Nov 20 will my wife be able to travel. From what I understand normal visas take around 3 weeks to process, and even if we requested for urgent processing, this seems to be quite risky to get it before Nov 20th.

2. Or, as NDVO explained - if we cannot travel before November 20th, then my wife will have to redo the medical (chest xray only), submit this to NDVO again and they will extend the validity of the medicals (I'm not sure by how long more). The question here is if we were to proceed with this option, how much longer will the file be under process and when will the PR be approved. If it's going to take several more months from now, that will be crazy. Both of us are at our wits' ends almost.

NDVO will call my wife tomorrow morning again to check on our decision. I'm not sure if anyone else on the forum has gone through this situation.

I guess my major question is - Has anyone here resubmitted their medicals to NDVO because they expired, and if so, how many more months did this add on to your overall timeline? Any inputs or advice is appreciated.

Thanks for taking the time to go through this lengthy post. Best wishes to everyone to be reunited with their families soon.
That is a complicated case.....all the best....I think ask an immigration lawyer as well and see.

Yeah it is complicated. Well I've been doing some research and what I could find:

The expiry date of the PR visa is tied down to when the medicals expire. You need to land in Canada before the expiry date, and it cannot be extended. If you do not, the visa becomes invalid and you may have to reapply (which no human being will have the patience for).

Having this in mind, it would be extremely risky to assume we would get the facilitation visas for our kids within the next 10 days. Most likely we will have to extend the validity of my wife's medicals and submit the medical exam once again - so they can extend the validity of the PR visa.

Has anyone had such an experience where they had to submit medicals again, and how long did it add on to their overall timeline?

I read somewhere that they can extend the medical up to 15 months ? If need be?

why dont you go back to india and take care of kids for a while and she can land on her own for landing sake and immediately return to india until childs visa is approved. If you can arrange friends or familes to take care of her.

Thought about that option too ramkris. But once my wife comes into Canada, and if she leaves and wants to enter again - she will need her PR card. To get the PR card roughly takes 2 months, so she wouldn't be able to land and then return back in a couple of days.

Hey Guys, Can we go and meet NDVO officer personally at their embassy?? My FIL really wants to meet them as it is really getting delayed too much. I am really tired of this waiting!! I have crossed 280 days already and still with no movement in my file.. Has anyone done it?
I've done this and it's not very helpful - they have clearly mentioned outside that no inquiries on applications will be entertained.

As someone mentioned before, you won't be able to even get across security - unless you have a valid question which you have not found the answer for in any of the CIC websites. You will have to write your question and intention of meeting a visa officer on a piece of paper, pass it on to security, then they will take it to the NDVO visa officer, and then it is up to their discretion if they wish to meet you or not.

Hi all, is it good idea to forward any other recently collected supporting documents to make them waive interview? Like tax filing report, rental agreement paper on couple,s name, CRA's letter enquiring spouse's status etc... Your opinion or experience?

Hey, submitted passport to NDVO in August after receiving the 1st GCMS notes. Apparently they sent a PPR in March sometime, which we never received.

Has your status changed to 'in process?' I can see in your timeline that your medicals will expire in December - hopefully they should get yours approved soon and then ask you to travel within the next 24 hours.... :)
