I heard a new policy for foreign worker stream will be released in 2013. Foreign worker only need 1 year's Canadian experience to be eligible. Is this information accurate? Where can I find the detail for this policy?

If this information is accurate, then what is the advantage to apply under student stream?

zhddz,

That is right - the worker stream of the CEC will only be required to show 1 year of skilled work experience as opposed to the previous 2 year rule. Regulatory changes will take effect in 2013 and the specific rules announced shortly. Here is the news brief regarding said transition..

Hi All,

Please help clarifying below.

Per new rule mentioned in this article, in 2013 only 10,000 applications will be accepted under CEC ( for all equal or above 12 months of Canada experience).

1) Does it mean applications beyond 10,000 count will only be opened and in 2014 ?

2) I am planning to apply in Mar end after getting my US and India PCCs in hand. This way application package will be full pledged. Am I thinking wrong?

3) Do you suggest me to apply in Jan and send PCCs after getting file # ?

4) Do you think CIC would receive 10,000 applications by Mar or Apr end of 2014 ?

5) Even Immig lawyers contradicting with their strategy. I am really confused. One says first send appli later PCC and another says do not hurry, get PCCs then send all in one shot.

Note:
I am done with IELTS eligible score just 3 weeks ago.

1. No, once the cap is reached, the other applications will be returned.
2. Well you don't require the PCCs until requested but sending them with the applications saves some time delays.
3. Your choice.
4. Unlikely, there were 5300 applications in the first 6 months of this year.
5. See 2

Hello, it is Jan 4th now, but I think worker stream still requires 2 years of experience.
What happened?

the new rules went into effect on January 2. Essentially, there are no longer 2 streams, but one set of requirements.

This page shows the new eligibility criteria, as does the instruction guide (there are some revised forms and a new document check list as well).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

The website, however, appears to not have been completely edited. These pages are NOT valid anymore, but are still live, creating a lot of confusion:

Qualify as a worker - Canadian Experience Class
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/workers.asp

Qualify as a graduate - Canadian Experience Class
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/graduates.asp

I could be wrong, but I think those pages just need to be deleted, and hope that CIC cleans up this website as soon as possible to end this confusion -

Those pages have now been removed, so it looks like I was right :) Hopefully, there will be no more confusion.
