Hello Folks,
I am starting this thread so that we all can share the ways of getting the key "First Canadian jobs" by the landed immigrants.
Briefly about myself, I landed in Canada about 5 months ago, and yet still struggling to get a job. I did my graduate studies in the US and worked as a graduate assistant for that period of time and therefore was slightly optimistic in the Canadian markets. However, shortly after landing to Canada, I realized that nepotism is all around and has dominated most of the opportunities. Additionally, talking specifically about engineering, 1 year of Canadian experience (out of 4 years of qualifying experience) is must to be registered as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) with The Association of Professional Engineers. Without E.I.T or P.Eng., opportunities for jobs are remote. Others things remain.
In situations as such, how can we overcome this hurdle? I have seen peoples who have been well established professionally. Some have managed this situation comfortably and were able to acquire the job shortly. Nevertheless, some have been struggling with this situation for long.
Therefore, forum members and seniors, if you could share your suggestion and success stories of your Canadian job search, it would be a great assistance and resources for newly landed immigrants as well as job seekers in Canada. Please feel free to have your comments/suggestion/opinions/success stories and any other relevant information that would be of invaluable resources for new immigrants like me.
CHEERS!
Best Regards,
CyTric
