Hi all...I've been working in Canada for 3+yrs on a postgraduate work visa that expires in June. I'm seeking PR status through the Provincial Nominee program and recently applied for a Temporary Work Visa with a letter of support from the province to be granted a 2-yr work visa while waiting for PR. My employer wants me to travel outside of Canada for work, but I haven't received a decision on my temp work visa and the latest correspondence from CIC stays "if you leave Canada before a decision is made you will no longer be authorized to continue working". Anyone know if there is any exception to this if leaving Canada is required by your Canadian employer?

I don't believe there is any exception. Your implied status is invalidated once you leave Canada. So you will need to wait for the PR or approval of your 2 years temp work visa to start working again.

btw do you have a valid TRV/eTA?

1. No exception, once you leave Canada your implied status ends.

I do not have either of those...figured it was the case that I can't leave, just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something since need to travel internationally for my job here. It just seems like such a silly rule!
