I am a silent reader of this forum and benefited a lot from all posts

In One thing i need your advice urgently and let me give you some of my detail.

I landed in canada June 2011 and return back to my home country after 10 days and received my PR cards in August 2011 which is valid untill June 2016( As the PR cards are valid for 5 years).

I am planning to move permanently to canada in May 2014 (because of some committments i can't move earlier than that) and will fulfill my 730 residency requirements and will renew my PR card accordingly.

Can you guide me on that after completing additional one more year for my new PR card i can apply for my passport (total accumulated days for the last four years will be 1095 from May 2014 to May 2017)

Is there any issue on this that my two years for which i stayed in canada (from May 2014 to MAy 2016) will not count in for citizenship requirement and will be lost?

Thanks in advance for all my recpectful seniors

This question does not seems so urgent as you have nothing to do immediately. :)
However, in order to apply for citizenship you must have resided in Canada for at least three years (1,095 days) in the past four years before applying.

Your PR should be maintained as you mentioned in your question.

Thanks Mr Wilson for your reply

Actually why i write urgent because one of my friend in canada reply to me on my question as follow

(To be able to renew the PR for another 5 years, you have to demonstrate that you have stayed in Canada for 730 days during the LAST 4 years of the PR validity period of 5 years. In this case, and to be able to apply for passport and citizenship during the SECOND 5 years you, again you have to demonstrate that you had stayed in Canada for 1095 days (3 years) during the 4 years BEFORE THE APPLICATION DATE with in the PR validity period of SECOND 5 years. Any period stayed in Canada with in the FIRST 5 years will be ignored.)

So according to him my two years in the first PR period(MAy 2014 to may 2016)will not be count and will be lost in the next renew PR period of 5 years, and i have to saty additional 3 more years to aply for my passport (MAy 2016 to MAy 2019)

I was totally confuse on this issue and thats why seek advise from the seniors, and if this is the case then i have to move permanently to canada before MAy 2013.

Kindly clarify this issue
Thanks

Citizenship and your PR card renewal date have nothing to do with each other. To qualify for citizenship you must have lived in Canada for at least 3 out of the last 4 years before applying. It doesn't matter when your PR card was renewed.

Your friend has no idea what he is talking about. Rather than listening to friend, please visit the CIC web site for accurate information.

And I agree with wilson. You post isn't urgent at all - not even remotely. I hate it when people put urgent in the subject line for non-urgent questions.

Thanks scylla for your reply

Well the matter seems not to be urgent for others but for me yes it is urgent, why? because if i go with my friends email, then i have to resign from my job by the end of FEb 2013 and serve three month notice and move permanently in MAy 2013. (Dont wanna waste my 2 years in first PR as he advice)

But as you clarify the doubts, now i can move according to plan and will move permanently in MAy 2014.

Best regards to all
