Hi,

I have been accepted into a 1-year post-graduate diploma program at a college in Canada. I was getting ready to apply for the Study Permit when I recieved a request for documents in a previously filed FSW case. Will this have a negative impact on my Study Permit application? Since the processing of the FSW case has moved to this stage will they think that I do not intend to return because of the pending perm case?

As far as I know, students are allowed to have dual intents, i.e. intent for temporary stay (to study) and permanent stay (to immigrate).

Dual Intent refers to the concurrent processing of an application for Permanent Residence and an application for Temporary Status, therefore demonstrating the intention to both reside in Canada permanently and only temporarily, at the same time.

Provided you can provide proof of strong ties to your country such that you can convince CIC that you will return home if your permanent residence application is denied, then you should not have a problem in getting a student visa.

In short, PR application will not make you ineligible for a student visa.
