Dear Fellows.
I am new immigrant to Canada. I have plan to land next month to Canada. I have noticed that new immigrants are not entitled for Health insurance for first three months. My main concern is that my wife is pregnant. what guys you suggest me regarding private insurance policy??

I think so that private insurance is so expensive or perhaps they will not cover the Maternity related expenses. The cost of Maternity is very high at hospitals

Please guide that under this situation what should i do? please guide me with name of highly reputed insurance companies with contact details?

Thank you
David

Unfortunately health insurance will not cover pregnancy since it's a pre-exisitng condition.

Which province are you landing in? The three month rule only applies to certain provinces.

Hi,

Some provinces offer insurance as long as you land and got your documents, but not ontario, where you have to wait 90 days. If it works, you can rely on your current insurance if feasible to be used internationally.

Hope all works fine with you and your family.

Cheers

Mezo

Determine which Province you will land in and find out if their insurance is immediate. If not, look at possibility of choosing one of those Provinces to look for work, if you don't already have a job offer. Another option is to wait until after delivery to move. You MUST have insurance coverage of some sort. I think a delivery some years ago was $10,000 and I don't know what it has gone up to now, or what that would cover.

Hi David.

Please ask qorax about it. the thread link is already given by Kanamen .

Hope it will help..

Regards,
Mayank

I have plan to land Toronto. Could you please guide the province where waiting period of three month is not applicable

I have posted the link below that includes the Ministries of Health for the Provinces and Territories of Canada. You can go on which ever Province you wish and you will find out whether or not there is a waiting period. Look for links to Common questions or Who is eligible for coverage.
