Need your help/suggestion/guidence,

I am writing this email to get the detailed insight if I am eligible for applying in Canada University or college.

Below are my details:

I joined engineering in July 2006 and completed in Nov 2013 due to multiple backs in my last year.

First Year: 55 (1 Down)

Second Year 52.5 (3 Down)

Third year 51.8 (1 Down)

Fourth Year 56.6 (2 Down)

In total I had 7 backlogs in my engineering tenure. Moreover, I have an extensive experience in IT of 8 years. Furthermore, I have given my Academic ILETS exam and below are the marks:

Speaking: 7 Reading: 7 Listening: 7 Writing: 6.5

Now, my expectation is to get into any program or course in Canada. Can you please review my profile and give your feedback.

Thanks in advance!

Regards, Sanjay

We have a similar backgound, I also took Engineering (mine is Aeronautical) for my post secondary. I had several backlogs as well. But I have 20 years of IT experience. IELTS: L 8, R 6.5, W 7, S 7.5. Got accepted at Durham College for a diploma in Computer Systems Technician, and a conditional offer from UOIT for the Bachelor (Hons) in Information Security (subject to completion of my DC diploma program). I’m more worried about my SP...

I think you will be fine. You can check out Durham College (https://durhamcollege.ca/) or University of Ontario Institute of Technology (https://uoit.ca/). Both are DLI. DC Oshawa campus is just beside UOIT campus.

Best regards,

You didn't mention the stream or major in which you completed your Engineering.

Getting into Universities can be tough because many established and popular programs have higher cut off requirements (around 70-75%). Moreover, in any season if the applicants are more then the cut off gets pushed to higher side.

You may have to find a Uni and Program that would accept your Engg. score (avg of last two yrs. is considered).

However, getting into PG programs in colleges should be fine. They would be able to offer you admission.

Having backlog is not a problem, as long as you show active interest in studies and show ability to complete the program on time and return back to your home nation. Good luck !
