Hi Guys...Need some inputs...Pls do...

Profile -
5.5 Years of experience as a Payroll specialist (North Americas)
B.Com - 63%
+2 - 72%
10 - 61%

One of my cousins friend has a small consulting firm in Canada. And he is ready to give me a job,if I'm in Canada... So I'm planning to take up a course which is 8 months or lesser (Heard 6-8 months are lesser, don't need a study permit - Correct me if I'm wrong)

Questions -
Will I be able to take up the job immediately after I finish the course or before that? And if Yes, do I need to land to the home country and apply for a work permit after the completion..
What are the colleges or universities which I can target for the courses?

And Pls tell me cons N Pro's if any

Hi,

It seems you are not clearly informed about many of the rules and procedures involved in migrating to Canada.

1. If you want to study any course more than 6 months, you need to apply for Canada study permit.
See my detailed reply on this previous post: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/bank-statementproof-of-funds-requirement-for-student-visa-t102192.0.html

2. If you want to work in Canada, after studies... you need to complete a minimum of 8 months of course (which is usually 2 SEM) from a recognized college/University, and then apply for Post Graduate Work Permit. If you study a course of 2 full academic years (4 SEM/16 months), then you will get PGWP of 3 years, and if you study a course of atleast 8 months, but less than 2 years...you will get PGWP permit equal to the duration of your actual studies.

To know more about participating institutions see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/institutions/participants.asp

To know more about work permit options for international students see: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work.asp

3. You need not only a good academic record, but also an IELTS score of min 6.5 (with no bands less than 6), to apply and get admissions in an appropriate PG level cert/diploma course in any recognized Canadian college. You need to do your individual research, as to which course and college/Univ to choose...by visitng all indivdual college/univ websites.

4.To eventually immigrate after your studies, you of course need a full time permanent job offer. It also depends where and in which province the job is located. Different provinces have different rules with their respective Provincial Nominee Programmes (PNPs) where you need to work in a full time permanent skilled/unskilled job for 3-6 months depending upon the provinces, as well as a federal govt scheme for international students called Canadian Experience class (CEC), where you need to work for 1 full year after your studies and then apply for PR (Permanent Residence). usually, the job needs to be skilled (NOC level O,A,or B).

To know more about NOC classification visit: http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/Matrix.aspx

To know more about..all the options available to international students after passing out a min 8 months course from a recognized Canadian educational institutions vsit all the individual websites as listed in this previous post:

http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/various-immigration-programmes-for-international-students-in-canada-t100908.0.html

Go through all the information, websites carefully... and you will know... there's a long way and lots of things need to be done, prepared before you embark on your journey to Canada!

Best of Luck.
