Hello seniors,

I have a friend who has sponsored his spouse staying in Gujarat. He was approved as a sponsor, but his spouse says the Police Dept. in Ahmedabad requires a formal Embassy letter to issue a PCC. Does she have to wait for this request to come or can she try obtaining a PCC before?

Thank you.

hi,
there is no need of any embassy letter for getting PCC. Ask her to go to the nearest area police station and ask there for PCC. they will ask her few questions and then will issue PCC in 2-3 days. They might ask for 200 Rs as processing fee or under table fee ;)

I don't know if you are a Gujju, but my PCC experience was not like that.
The police station does not entertain you.

In my case I attached the copy of 1st AOR as formal letter. Filled a form at passport office. Gave 300 bucks(not sure about exact amount. this is formal with receipt). These forms are then sent to commissioners office and than to individual police station where you are agian called. again form filling and than again you'll be called again.

To the OP. If you got any Letter of acknowledgement from from embassy, it can be used as a formal letter.

This is the right process for getting a PCC. PCCs are issued by the regional POs as miscellaneous service.

See the below link for more details

Things are quite streamlined in Gujarat.
I could say the same for RTO, passports, PAN card and other govt stuff.

Thanks to Modi.(I don't know the situation before 10 years)

No need to go anywhere...Go directly to police commissioner office (for ahmedabad office is located at shahibaug). Apply for PCC. enclose 1st AOR and newdelhi checklist. They will send this inquiry to the local police station where you suppose to go for paperwork..again that letter goes to main police office from there you can get directly..you need to bring original passport. Al to gather it is a week procedure.

If this is the case then its even better than the PO route..
