I have a very bad academic standing in Fall 2011 semester (all other semesters been good so far). At the start of Winter 2012 semester (the current semester), I dropped my current program and registered for a new program at the same college. They accepted me. I've already pay for my tuition and everything. My new program will start in Fall,2012. But I need to renew my study permit in order to finish this new program. Will that bad academic standing affect my study permit extension?

Hi,

Although, no one can speculate as to what the visa result might be... but it's obvious that, apart form the element of luck... people with good academic background, decent or good record, stronger financial condition, more relevant work ex, higher IELTS scores i.e overall a better/good profile are more likely to get a visa rather than those with poor academic marks and very bad records such as leaving a particular course midway. Such actions clearly generates a negative image of the student visa applicant, and hence candidly speaking, in my personal opinion, chances of you getting the visa, for the 2nd time/renewal looks a bit tough. Also, If you have applied for an appropriate course... matching more relevant to your profile..or maybe a higher credential course.. then, maybe chances are better for getting the visa... So, you never know..as to what the final outcome maybe. Nevertheless, apply & see what happens.

Best of Luck.
