So I'm having this problem. according to the Government I am a Canadian Citizen because my Mother was born in Canada. I was born in the USA and came to Canada with my Mother when I was around 1-2 years old. I've been living here ever since, am 20 now. started trying to get citizenship first and it took about two years until I was told I was already a Citizen (my brother is only two years older than me, also born in the States and he just went through the citizenship process) the only problem being is that to get proof of Canadian Citizenship I need two pieces of Photo ID, which I need the Proof of citizenship to get. So i'm wondering what I can do about this.

This feels like a real brain teaser, but there HAS to be a solution to it. How did your brother provide photo ID is my first question? Do you have a driver's license? What about school ID, that usually has a photo and your name on it?

Do you have written proof that you are a Canadian citizen or was the information given by phone? If verbal, can you get it in writing?

What about a provincial ID?

Your provincial DL or ID card and your US passport, unless they specified that it has to be a Canadian photo ID.

-My brother had his school card which at first they wouldn't accept, but after it was explained that it was all he had they let him use it. It took him quite a while to get everything figured out but he eventually did. Don't have a drivers licence, they won't let me without a Canadian Birth certificate hence the need for proof of citizenship. My School ID was lost, I moved into a Different house after high school and my wallet was thrown out by someone helping me move (hadn't been using it, had gotten a new one) and the only thing in it was my school ID, Didn't realize till after that it was thrown out and by that time it was off to the dump.

-I'm not sure, might have been by phone, but I remember a letter. I think it came when I was gone for a few days so my mom checked it thinking it was my citizenship.

-Think it's the same, requires proof of citizenship.

-Can't get a DL or ID, and I didn't require a passport when I was 1. (at least not then)

It'll get figured out eventually, just have to talk to a person who knows what to do. Was just wondering if anyone had anything that might help it go faster or something else that could be used
(also just wanted to rant a bit, been trying to get all my things together for almost 3 years. took almost two years for them to tell my I didn't have to worry about the becoming a Citizen papers)

I don't know how many years it has been since you graduated from high school, but....any chance you could check with your school, find out who the photographers were and see if you can get a copy of your last ID? School albums also have a picture with name. Hardly an official document, but along with your cover letter I wonder if it would help? Any chance you have photo ID at your place of work? I think you've come to the point where it may save you time to get professional advice.

Hi I know this post has not been used in a while but I am trying to help someone out with the exact same problem. I was wondering if and how you got this resolved if this message some how gets to you it would be so helpful.
