Hi everyone,

I sent my papers application to sponsor my spouse ( outside Canada ),but I can’t link it to my online account , I saw a lot of people saying we link it without having the AOR number .

Please any advice with details will be very helpful.

It's easiest if you have an AOR. It can *sometimes* be done without the AOR.

We need more details, though. When did you submit the application? To where? Is it inland/outland?

It takes waaaaaaaaaaay more than 8 days for CIC to even look at your application. AOR can take 6 weeks to 3 months, if not longer. Even returning your application takes more than 8 days. At present, your application is sitting in a pile in the mailroom, unopened.

Just wait. This process takes around 12 months, give or take three months. If you're already panicking now, the five months of silence during background check will be really rough.

Step one: wait 6-8 weeks for CIC to even look at your application.

Step two: you can start to try various combinations via GCKey, but without a UCI it will be more difficult.

Step three: receive UCI and it will be a lot easier.

You submitted your application last Saturday. CIC hasn't looked at it yet. Most people can only link applications after about two months. You won't even know if they've returned it to you missing documents for a few weeks.

Just wait. It's a waiting game.
