I am an Indian National, I am working as an IT Professional for the past 9 years.
Please advice me if this is the right time to migrate to Canada. I am very new to this site and found this to be very useful.
Please advice me how to proceed further from the scratch, is it possible to file the application myself or is a Consultant must, which is the best consultant to reply in bangalore. What is the duration of this complete process..
Thanks in advance..

Dear Manoj,

Welcome to this forum. Many questions ehh? But, rest assured that these queries come to everyone of us while applying for the PR. Here's what I feel about it:

1. Is this the right time?
...Yes. Anytime is the right time. Who knows about the future... may be your NOC doesn't stay in the 38 list later. Plus, the economy gets further worse, globally [God forbid]. In any case, once successful, u can always do your 'record of landing' & come back to your homeland to return to Canada later [when u think it would be better]. But, anyway u'll have to build your life from the scratch in a new country... challenges will be galore... so what's the point in 'now' or 'later'? If it were me, I'd start this trip the earliest possible.

2. How to proceed?
...Visit the CIC website - http://www.cic.gc.ca, select the category u want to apply, download the Apps Package, study the Immigration Guide & go ahead.

3. Do u need a consultant?
...No, not at all. The present processing system is quite easy & simple. The CIC website & forums like these is all what u need. Every step & action is so well documented in the site/guide that u cannot miss anything. A consultant might 'only' be needed if u r in a tricky position, vis-a-vis your Quals, Exp, Previous Rejection/s, Shortage of Time or anything that might be a concern of yours.

4. Which consultant in Bangalore?
...Again it's a personal choice if u want one. Google for the consultants of your area [word of mouth would be better], check them thru the CIC site for their 'good standing' under CSIC league & go for the best.

5. What is the duration of the process?
...Under the current 'fast track' processing system it takes anything between 6-18 months for the entire case completion. The avg being 12 months. Unless u run into 'red flags'.

End note: Go for it now, my friend... sooner the better.

All the best !
Qorax.

Welcome to the forum Manoj. You got answer from one of our best guys on forum already. I can only second qorax on his opinion.

1.) Economic conditions are not good in Canada as rest of world, but if you are willing to give it a shot this is a good time like any other time

2.) To start visit cic.gc.ca and first of all take a self assesment test and eligibility test at following link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

3.) Consultant or not is a personal choice but this is fairly simple and all details are available on website and can be done by self efforts

4.) Average time is around 12 months provided you work on your paper work thoroughly and it is indeed an experience

Ankit

its not the good time to migrate to Canada but time seems not too far ( i cant say how far) when Canada will need a thrust of workers in all sorts of fields once it recovers from the recession.
Jobless rate has already come down 10 fraction points from Dec to Jan 2010. Now we all are looking forward to the February Data which is due in coming days.

Yes, every time when u take decision is the right time. It is of course the best time to move Canada under Fast Track Visa. You have to wait maximum one year to get your Visa. I think this the best time to apply. Don't think a lot and file your case.

Don't think a lot before taking decisions, take decision and then think how to prove it right.

Manoj, moving to a different country and if married and have kids is a big decision to take. Canada is a country which has usually been a stable country for many years. If you ask about getting a job when you land, it all depends upon you and when you say IT professional then yes it all depends upon the demand and supply rule I guess. But things are improving and to be direct to the point, Yes it is a good time to apply since many economist say now its a v - then flat recovery then better to be a part of the rising V recovery rather then the flat one.

Best of luck
