Hi, need some help. My work permit will expires next month. Can I still apply for permanent under CEC? I have problem with my marital status , i filed divorce here but until now no decision yet. I am still using married cause all my legal docs are with that status even when I filed my TAX here. My IELTS score is passing all category of 6 which is requirement in my NOC 0 but my over all band is 6.5 and the overall band score for my NOC 0 is 7. Do I need to take Ielts again? I really need your help....Thank you

The expiry of your work permit does not prevent you from applying for CEC. Of course, you should not continue to work once the permit has expired, unless you have applied for another permit.

It's not clear what the question about your marriage is - it is possible to change your marital status and your name during the application process, provided that you update them about these details - do you plan to include your spouse in the application?

There is no "overall" language score requirement. If your IELTS results are 6.0 or higher in each of the four abilities, then they are good enough for NOC 0.

You can only stay if you have already filed for extension of Visa. You can stay until a decision is made on your visa extension. In case extension is issued, you can stay until the new extended date.

Are you from a visa exempt country? Which 90 days are you referring to?

If you are not from a visa exempt country, then after your work permit expires you need to leave the country. Or apply for a Book after you recieve your AOR for the CEC application.

Thank you so much. Additional inquiry please...If i will apply CEC next week , what should I use as marital status ? all my docs are married but on going divorce here since in my country no divorce. Thank you so much.

Technically you are still married untila decision is made on your Divorce application.
You can always update CIC once a decision has been reached.

You can always apply for an extension of your work permit .. you need to meet all the requirements for that though (e.g. LMIA).
Also - why didn't you process this ahead of time like 3-4 months ago?

If you are eligible from the above posters link, you can still apply after leaving Canada but within a certain time line.
