Hi,

I got married this year and we're both really young. I'm 19 and she is 18. I'm a Canadian Citizen, and she lives in another country in Asia. I go to College for Computer Engineering (finishing first year) and so I don't have a job. My question is, can I start sponsoring her without a job/income? I mean, I'm looking for a job but haven't found one yet. I live in my mothers house. I'm receiving social assistance but I've heard you cannot sponsor until you stop receiving social assistance? Any tips on what exactly I can do right now? In terms of the job aspect and social assistance due to College, etc. Thank you very much in advance!

Also, she got her medical exam done last month but I haven't yet completed any of the sponsorship forms because of the job/social assistance issue.

You need to get off social assistant first before you can sponsor her. A lot of people get a student loan instead of social assistant for their collage years. On top of that, you really need to figure out how you can support her once she gets here.
She may not find work and you need to plan ahead to see if you can get a job plus student loan and still manage time for school.
Neither you nor her can get social assistant within 3 years after she landed.
