Need help with question about background declaration

I have a question about one of the questions in the background declaration form.

They ask me if I, as the sponsored person had or have any serious diseases or physical or mental disorders.

Now, I do have autism, but I'm very high functioning and I have a very high IQ.

Is this (my autism in my case) considered as a serious mental disorder?
Or do I just check 'no' and give right under that question a explanation about my autism?

I read the word "serious" in conjunction with diseases, and then "physical or mental disorders" separately, so I put "yes" and explained about my asthma. Although it is not a chronic condition, and managed mostly by lifestyle coping mechanisms with only occasional need for medication, it does affect me physically, so I disclosed it. Remember that as a sponsored spouse you cannot be rejected solely on on medical grounds.
