Hello everyone,

I am trying to understand the "proof of funding" for the study visa. If you are applying to a 3 year program, must you show a proof of funding for all 3 years in your application? Or can this be done year by year?

If so does this proof of funding cover only the months you are studying or the whole year?

This question may sound silly as I couldn't imagine the average person to have $40,000 in their bank accounting, but I would like to be sure I understand this correctly.

Thank you for your help!

From what I understand, you have to show that you have the funds to pay for tuition and living expenses for the first year. At the same time, there should be some proof that you have a source (sponsor's employment/business) that can support you beyond just the first year.

"Proof of funding" how you are going to support yourself (i.e. for living expense, paying tuition, etc.) when you will be in Canada. It can be loan, cash in bank, etc.

Whoever is sponsoring you will need to show atleast one year of tution fees + living expenses in their bank account and proof that they are financially capable enough to support you for your entire stay in Canada.
