Can I still work if I am in implied status? what if employer asks for proof. what to show them? I mean work permit and SIN will be expired at the same time.

This should answer all your questions - Can I keep working if my permit expires? How do I prove this to my employer? (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=189&t=17)

Also, the expired SIN may be used during implied status - http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/sin/employers/expiry.shtml

It depends on what work permit you hold. Do you hold PGWP, Twp, IEC, etc work permit?

If it specifically states that it's not extendable then you cannot work during implied status.

Then, yes, you qualify to work on implied status. However proving this to employers is difficult, show them the link provided by LPS above and proof that you've applied for your work permit.

Not much else you can do, unless your HR people know much about work permits.

If you apply online, based on the current processing time, you will certainly get your work permit within a month.

I have exactly a month left on work permit. Do you think is too late?

If you have 1 month left it's not too late .
Basic rule is You have to apply (online or paper) before your WP expires . You can work as Implied status in Canada once WP application submitted

Note: Current Online processing time for WP is 15 Days and Paper is 49 Days, so better apply through online

Hope this answer will help you
Good Luck

You can be on implied status even if you apply for the next permit on the last day of your current permit.
