Hi guys im in a pickle. I called to schedule the physical and she said I needed a IME UCI or UMI number before I do the physical...

I am in a bind because we have to do it next week we already booked tickets to fly to the place and my hubby has taken time off etc...and I have no idea what #s she is asking about...

I am doing ALL the stuff before sending the application...and now this is freaking me out. What to do?!?!

you are doing the UPFRONT medical, so you need to make that clear to the doctor. you do not need any form or UCI number from CIC because an upfront is done BEFORE The application is submmitted. if the doctor does not know this, then try to seek out another doctor on the panel.

If you are applying outland then this is an upfront medical and UCI numbers are not needed. You need to tell them that it is an upfront medical when you arrive. They have all the papers and information that will be sent to CIC.

I told the lady that on the phone that I dont have one because I am applying before I have submitted everything and she was like..."I dont know the process but you need the numbers before you do the exam"

I am calling again as I hit enter on this post...

well there you go. she just admitted she doesn't know the process, so this must be explained to her. if you continue to have problems, notify her you will be reporting that office to CIC for not following procedure, ask specifically for her name, and see how quickly she changes her tune. I'm sure her boss would be none to pleased to be kicked off the panel list because of incompetence in his office. also, send a letter directly to the doctor to make sure he knows his office is not following protocol and you will be reporting him to CIC. and if that still doesn't work, find another doctor on the panel to go to.

Tell the lady that you are doing an upfront medical examination. You don not have UCI number yet.

3rd call got someone that knew what they might be talking about. She had to go confirm it with someone else...

She said that AFTER I apply and get my # I need to call them back with the number to attach to my stuff.

OMG what a PANIC...I was freaking out because Hubby is flying in from Canada to be there with me and he took off work and stuff. (We are going to hang out in Dallas and do some stuff and drive home to visit my parents but...yea...omg)

The other first lady said I needed to contact a embassy or something to get a #...I was like :'( :o >:(

Have you asked them about the photo's. Do they take one or do you have to supply one. Here in Canada my husband had his taken at the Dr's but at home in the U.K. we had to provide one . Don't forget xrays and blood work. This may not be done in the same building. Just a heads up. Our Dr in the U.K was so bad and out of touch my step son had to input the information into the computer himself . I just hope they got it all.

Thank you guys so much...this forum has been a life saver for me going through this process! Everytime I write, people respond. It is such a relief to have people to help you and support you. I wish I could give the people that talk on here a hug sometimes...

She (the 3rd competent one) offered that info, that they take the pictures. Woot...something I dont have to worry about...

Another question..#13 on the check list is about photos

"Supply four recent photos for each member of your family and yourself. Follow the instructions in the Appendix...."

Are they taking care of that step or do I have to go to a post office where they do like passport photos and get those done?

this is separate from the medical. you have to supply your own pictures for your copr and PR card. there are instructions in the guide that give the proper dimensions, apparently they are NOT the same as passport photos. However, i did get passport photos done at AAA (1 set is free for members - so i just went back multiple times), and it was attached to my COPR. will find out after i land if they are good for the PR card too. i have since measured them, and they are the same measurement as in the guide, either this is by pure luck, US passport photo specs have changed, or CIC cut them down for me. I have read Walmart has a folder for immigration photos from certain countries in their picture system. most people bring the specifications to a picture place and have them printed per the specification.

Where are you having your medicals done?

When I called they argued with me about the numbers too, it took me several calls to get them to realize up front didn't require anything *sigh*

Good luck!

if it's the same location, i would strongly recommend people start reporting this office to CIC for not following/knowing protocol. there's no reason incompetence should be rewarded. they are basically pocketing most of that money for themselves i believe.

They pocketed 220 dollars from me. *sigh*
