I am on Spouse Dependent Open Work Permit and working in Canada.
I want to be independent of my Spouse Work permit dependency dates. Hence, I want to know:

1) Is it possible and legal to transfer my dependent WP (i.e. currently dependent on my spouse WP dates) TO an independent WP (i.e. my current employer specific)?

2) If point-1 is true, what is the process for transfering the WP to my current employer? I believe my employer has to file an LMO. Is there anything else that I have to do? Can anyone pls share the complete process to file the LMO?

Also, my current spouse dependent WP is valid for 1yr from now. Is it possible to transfer it before my current dependent WP expires?

Appreciate the inputs from the seniors here!. Thank you

1) No - it is not possible to transfer an open work permit. You will have to apply for a new work permit (closed) that is tied to that specific employer.

2) To qualify to apply for the closed work permit, your employer will first have to obtain an approved LMO. Then you can apply.
