Need Help if i can go back to Canada. Thanks

I am Christian Viray, my PR Card will expires on July 2016. i stay in Canada for 8 months last May 2011 until January 2012. I need help with regards if i can go back to Canada because i stay long here in Philippines almost 1 year and 5 months. And if their is a penalty or something i can do so that i can go back to Canada as soon as possible. Thanks

Yes, you can come back. In order to meet the residency obligation, you need 730 days = 24 months in Canada in your first 5 years as a PR and in any rolling 5 year period after that. You already spent 8 months in Canada so you need another 16 months in order to meet the residency requirements. If you landed in May 2011, your 5 year PR anniversary is in May 2016 so right now, you have almost 3 years left to stay the 16 months in Canada that you need.

You need a passport, PR card and a ticket. That's it.
