HI
I am divorced in US in 2007 and give 20% child support to my Ex for my son who lives with her in a different state. I want to apply for Canadian Immigration but am not sure if i need to put my son's picture on the form. I do not have a passport picture and my ex refuses to cooperate. Do i really need to put my son's picture since my Ex claims him as a dependent for taxes.

Sincerely

Ravi

You do need to declare your son on the form as a non-accompanying dependent. Normally you would need to provide pictures of him and he would need to have a medical for immigration, even if he is not coming with you. You need to ask your ex for this, preferably in writing or email so that you will get a written or email reply back. If she refuses to co-operate, you can attach her reply to your application as well as your statement saying that you realize that this will prevent you from sponsoring your son in the future. In that case, it should not affect your own immigration.
