Hello everyone,

I've received my express entry AOR and now I'm applying for universities in Ontario for the September term. The university office told me that I need to start my application from Ontario University's Application Centre (OUAC). Here comes the question: I'm holding a work permit at the moment, and by September I should get my PR. OUAC website is asking my current status and it doesn't have the "work permit" option. Which one should I choose?

This is the list:
Status in Canada (at time of applying)
  • Canadian Citizen
  • Permanent Resident
  • Study Permit
  • Diplomatic
  • Convention Refugee (Protected Person)
  • Visitor
  • No Status

Thanks!

With WP you're a temporary worker, so none of the above. In this case I'd contact the university and ask what you should put down...

If you say PR you'll need to send them a copy of your PR card which you don't have, so probably not the best ideai.

The other option is visitor as visitor and WP are both temporary residents... but best to ask the university.

You will most likely have to select study permit as I'm not sure if you can study as a visitor. You can inform the university and change your status once you have received your PR so it's not a big deal.

Are you a CEC or FSWI applicant? That will have an impact on application processing time. In either case you can expect to have your PR by September.
